Club Scrap Blog Hoppers!!!!!
I have been obsessed with the idea of paper dresses for years now. It all started at the store Anthropologie. Years ago their window display was all dresses crafted from newspaper. Club Scrap Blog Hoppers!!!!!
Then at CHA in January 2011 DCWV had a whole display of paper dresses.
So for years now I have planned for, dreamed of and fantasized about paper dresses! And imagine how incredibly excited I was when I found these in the dollar bin at Michael's!
I have looked for paper mache dress forms for a long time. I loved the idea of these mini ones and I even scored them on clearance for 50 cents each! I have decided that I will use the Club Scrap Blog Hop to create a different dress each month!
So here is my first paper dress.........
I started by using my Fiskar Circle cutter and used a whole sheet of 12 x 12 orange paper from the Club Scrap June "Hopes" kit and cut half circles. I made a pattern for the skirt from some packing paper that came in a big Club Scrap shipment!
I ran all my half circles through my small Xyron machine and then starting at the bottom and layered them up the skirt.
I used a small flower punch and punched the flowers from the awesome gold paper from the Hopes Kit. I used Club Scrap Book Binding Glue to attach the flowers to form the top. I covered the waist with the brown ribbon from the embellishment pack and then covered it with a gold trim from my stash! And no dress is complete without jewelry to match so I created a necklace out of small rhinestones!
The finishing touch was Club Scrap Topaz ink on the edges of the skirt. Although probably hard to see in the pictures, it made a HUGE difference in adding depth and dimension to the dress!

SO SO SO CUTE! I love this and was also inspired by those awesome paper dresses from CHA that year. I found that making the paper dresses was quite a challenge, but you have made it look so easy. Thanks for the awesome step by step. And lucky you that you found those little dress forms on Clearance WOOT!
How much paper do you need to make Tricia that dress? I'm willing to give you some!! It was pretty creepy seeing all those half-bodies in a plastic shopping bag, but LOVE what you did with it!
