Club Scrap Artist Team February Challenge

I was so excited when I found out that the Club Scrap Stacked Book Box Project was to be the first Artist Team Challenge. This project turned into a true labor of love.

I knew I wanted to create a "cake" centerpiece for Valentine's Day. The idea is quite special to me as it was first introduced to me by my mom. At my bridal shower 19 years ago I walked in to find the most amazing "cake" created from paper Mache boxes painted white and trimmed with lace and silk flowers, perched on top was a Bride Barbie (total Barbie fan here). My mom had made it for me herself (she is quiet talented). She even made the Wedding dress for Barbie because at the time they did not have a bride Barbie available.

I wrapped all the boxes in the glossy white paper from the Club Scrap Picnic Collection. It is a good thing I am a Club Scrap Hoarder as this project does take quite a bit of paper. Luckily I had "a few" Picnic kits. Did I tell you, I LOVE THIS CLUB!

I used the Club Scrap Fire and Ice kit to line the boxes and create the heart on top. I used the red ribbon from the same kit to trim each box.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to hand make paper flowers for my cake. I will admit though that I came very close to going out to buy silk! They were not difficult to make just very time consuming. I tried a number of different flower dies but decided on the Tim Holtz pine cone die. After creating the roses I used some fine glitter to give them a little sparkle.

My final touch was some randomly placed pearls on the ribbon. I can't wait to use it again next year!

Thanks for stopping by. You can head back to Club Scrap to continue on and check out what the rest of the Artist Team came up with. You will not be disappointed. Then you can stop HERE and  pick up one of the Stacked Book Box Projects for yourself. The possibilities are endless!

XOXO,
Anne Marie

Anne Marie, from someone who creates paper flowers I can understand why you would be hesitant to make your own for this project, but it is obvious, you did, and they are STUNNING! Great job and you should be quite proud of this project. Beautiful.
